Here at kiwimana we are Beekeepers who want to help those interested in Bees and Beekeeping by providing simple yet informative starter course. It will give you a great overview of the ‘world of Beekeeping', a start without Bees, so you can learn about Beekeeping and Bees ‘Hands-Off'.
First Session – 2 hours
It will bee a simple yet informative class starting with an introduction to hive-ware, basic hive configuration and basic Beekeeping terminology. Options for basic gear and hive-ware for starting out.
Second Session – 2 hours
Introduction to Seasons and how their effects impact on Beekeeper and Bee Activities. What is Health and disease and Beekeeper hygiene? What are the Risks? Introduction to …what is an ‘inspection? and their purposes. Introduction to legalities of Beekeeping.
Third Session – Apiary Visit – 2 hours
Introduction to the Apiary, discussing hive / apiary set-up, inspection purposes – when and why, Beekeeper Hygiene applications, Risks. Lighting a smoker, meeting the Bees and looking in a ‘working hive' – Weather permitting. Options for you to start up, simply and easy.

Time : 7.00pm to 9.00pm
Where : Massey Community House, Triangle Park, 385 Don Buck Road, Massey, Auckland West.
Apiary Visit : Weekend
Time : 9.00am to 11.00am
Where : 165 Wairere Road, Waitakere Township, Auckland 0782 – Weather Permitting
