Goldie Inspection

Hi Everyone, sorry the gap between blog entries.

Today I did a full inspection of Goldie and the hive is going well, it has five supers on top of two brood boxes. It also had a full size super on top from that last extraction that we did a couple of weeks ago. Margaret is going to write about that day. Its going to an amazing blog as its taking her a couple of weeks to write.

You would have been proud of me readers I did the full inspection without gloves, I kept smoking my hands as suggested by Marcia from the Bees in the Antipodes blog, if you get a chance check out her great blog out at

The top super isn't full of honey, but I think we will be getting some more honey before the season is over. We must buy some new jars, we don't have that many left now.

The bees have slowed down with the Honey production, and the brood doesn't seem to be as full as well. The Queen is in residence I witnessed her laying some new eggs, I took some photos hopefully one will turn out.

I think the bees are starting to slow down, heading into our winter.

Got one sting as I was adding the supers back onto the brood boxes, I must have crushed one of the girls as I lifted the hive. But other than that all is well.

See ya…Gary
